The invention discloses a method for preparing alpha-semi-hydrated gypsum from phosphogypsum. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining pretreated phosphogypsum; mixing the pretreated phosphogypsum with water and a crystal modifier to form gypsum slurry; and treating the gypsum slurry in a semi-dry steam curing environment to obtain the alpha-semi-hydrated gypsum. Compared with a traditional autoclaving process, the method has the advantages that the energy consumption is reduced by 15-25%, and the conversion rate is greater than or equal to 95%. The 28d absolute dry compressive strength of the alpha-semi-hydrated gypsum product prepared by the method is greater than or equal to 50MPa, the breaking strength is greater than or equal to 7MPa, the standard consistency water consumption is 35-40%, and the seed crystal microstructure is a short hexagonal prism crystal with the length-diameter ratio close to 2: 1. According to the process, low energy consumption, high yield and high strength are achieved, and comprehensive utilization, high quality and large-scale engineering of the ardealite can be achieved.
