In the operation process of the excavator, work task information and battery energy consumption information of the excavator in a current work mode are obtained, and the work task information comprises task progress; judging whether the current working mode is an optimal working mode or not according to the battery energy consumption information and the current task progress; under the condition that the current working mode is not the optimal working mode, the remaining working duration of the battery is determined according to the battery energy consumption information; and determining an optimal working mode from a plurality of working modes of the excavator according to the residual working duration and the task progress. According to the technical scheme, the working modes are automatically switched, so that the cruising ability and the working efficiency of the excavator are improved. The energy consumption corresponds to the working mode, so that the excavator can work in the optimal working mode in the whole process, and the energy utilization rate is effectively increased.
