The invention discloses a lightweight high-heat-insulation ultrahigh-temperature ceramic material and a preparation method and application thereof.The preparation method comprises the steps that spherical thin-wall empty shell powder is put into a mold, and after vibration compaction, the temperature is increased to 1500 DEG C from the room temperature to be fired into a block material; and continuously heating the block from 1500 DEG C to 1600 DEG C, preserving heat, cooling, and naturally cooling to obtain the lightweight high-heat-insulation superhigh-temperature ceramic material. According to the invention, the requirements of light weight, high heat insulation and higher temperature resistance of an ultrahigh-temperature material are met, so that the material can be used at 1600 DEG C; compared with an ultra-high-temperature material, the lightweight high-heat-insulation ultra-high-temperature ceramic material disclosed by the invention has the outstanding substantive characteristics that (1) the lightweight high-heat-insulation ultra-high-temperature ceramic material is relatively light, and the apparent density is 1.75 +/-0.1 g/cm < 3 >; and the porosity is greater than 70%. (2) the lightweight high-heat-insulation ultra-high-temperature ceramic material is resistant to sintering, the spherical thin-wall hollow shell structure of the powder can still be maintained after 10h at 1600 DEG C, and the sintering linear shrinkage rate is less than 5%; and (3) the lightweight high-heat-insulation superhigh-temperature ceramic material is relatively high in heat insulation, and the heat conductivity is 0.17 W/(m.K).
