The invention provides a door closing control system and method for an electric door of a railway locomotive. The door closing control system comprises a controller KK01, a motor driver KK02, a direct-current servo motor MA01, an electromagnetic lock YA01, an intermediate relay KF01, a buzzer HA01, a door closing detection switch ST02, a door opening in-place switch ST01 and at least five inductors RF01, VD01, VD02, VD03 and VD04. The door closing process comprises speed control, position control and torque control; speed control has two speed modes which are respectively a speed value V1 corresponding to a normal door closing process and a speed value V2 corresponding to a soft door closing process, the speed values V1 and V2 are preset in a motor driver KK02 through a controller program, and V1 is greater than V2; when the torque force value received by the motor driver KK02 after the soft door closing process is started is larger than the torque force value before the soft door closing process is started, it is judged that the door leaf completely enters the door frame, and after secondary detection is conducted through electromagnetic lock tongue release and motor reverse rotation, it is judged that the door is closed in place.
