The invention discloses a compact artificial sandstone, the sandstone comprises mixed powder and a binder according to a mass ratio of 20-30: 1, the mixed powder comprises clay and quartz sand, the content of the clay is not more than 30%, and the content of the quartz sand is not more than 30%; the artificial sandstone is prepared by ball-milling and uniformly mixing the mixed powder, mixing the mixed powder with the binder, grinding at a constant temperature, pre-pressing in batches, compacting and maintaining pressure, and baking, within 12 hours before compacting, a mold pressure head is turned over at intervals and pressure is increased in a gradient manner, and the interval time is not longer than 6 hours, so that the homogeneity of the artificial rock core obtained by the method is greatly improved, and the production cost is reduced. The standard deviation of the longitudinal wave velocity at different positions on the same plane is lower than 10m/s, and the optimal standard deviation can be lower than 6.5 m/s.
