The invention relates to the technical field of engineering machinery, and discloses an excavator and a rotation limiting device and a control method thereof, the excavator comprises a rotation platform and a rotation pilot oil way, and the rotation limiting device comprises a rotation limiting assembly, a rotation electromagnetic valve and a limiting relay; the rotation limiting assembly is used for detecting the left-right rotation direction of the rotation platform and sending out a corresponding rotation signal. The rotary electromagnetic valve is arranged on the rotary pilot oil way, and the rotary pilot oil way can be switched on or switched off when the rotary electromagnetic valve is powered on or powered off, so that the rotary platform is driven to rotate or stop rotating; the limiting relay is electrically connected with the rotation limiting assembly and used for receiving a rotation signal sent by the rotation limiting assembly and controlling the rotation electromagnetic valve to be powered on or powered off according to the rotation signal. Compared with a controller for controlling rotation, the control logic is simpler, a special rotation direction detection device does not need to be selected, and the whole installation, debugging and maintenance are more convenient.
