The molecular formula of the ceramic is (Hf0. 3Zr0. 3Ta0. 3Nb0. 1) B2, and the ceramic is prepared by the following steps: mixing (Hf0. 3Zr0. 3Ta0. 3Nb0. 1) B2 solid solution powder, adding a solvent and a ball milling medium, mixing, drying and sieving to obtain ceramic powder, brushing a layer of BN on the inner surface of a crucible, loading into a graphite mold, heating to 1900-2100 DEG C, and carrying out SPS sintering at the vacuum degree of 10 mbar. The medium-entropy boride ceramic has good mechanical properties, the hardness at room temperature is 26-35 GPa, the fracture toughness is 3.5-4 MPa.m < 1/2 >, the bending strength is 350-500 MPa, and the medium-entropy boride ceramic can be applied to the field of ultra-high temperature (2000 DEG C or above) environments.
