The invention discloses a method for preparing YAG (yttrium aluminum garnet)-based transparent ceramic by rotary evaporation drying, which comprises the following steps: carrying out heat treatment on Al2O3, Y2O3 and rare earth oxide, and then weighing according to a stoichiometric ratio (Y1-xRax3Al5O12, 0 < = x < = 0.05; adding a sintering aid and absolute ethyl alcohol; adding a grinding medium for ball milling, filtering the ball-milled slurry by using a gauze element, and then adding the filtered slurry into a rotary evaporation bottle; performing rotary evaporation and drying to obtain fluffy and uniform mixed powder without hardened blocks; carrying out compression molding on the mixed powder, and then carrying out cold isostatic pressing to obtain a ceramic green body which can be used for sintering; then calcining the ceramic green body in an air or oxygen atmosphere; carrying out vacuum sintering on the obtained ceramic green body; then, the obtained biscuit is annealed; and finally, performing double-sided polishing to obtain a final ceramic product. According to the invention, the preparation problem that a scattering center exists in large-size ceramic preparation is solved, and efficient production of transparent ceramic is realized.
