The invention relates to a portable warm pitch preparation apparatus 10 and a method 100 for producing warm pitch. The apparatus 10 includes a first container 12 defining a chamber 14. The chamber 14 comprises an inlet 14.1 for introducing an asphalt feed comprising a particulate plastic source into the chamber 14; a base plate 14.5 which is an inclined plane between a lower first end 14.6 and an upper second end 14.7 of the chamber 14; and an outlet 14.2 provided at the upper second end 14.7 for discharging the warm heterogeneous mixture from the chamber 14. A delivery device 40 is used for mixing the asphalt feed and for delivering the resulting hot heterogeneous mixture to an outlet 14.2. The heating device 60 is used to provide heat to the asphalt feed during mixing by the conveying device 40 such that a warm heterogeneous mixture is formed.
