The invention provides a refractory castable for casting an iron runner of a small blast furnace. The refractory castable is prepared from the following raw materials: alumina, brown aluminum oxide, nano rare earth oxide, activated aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, metal silicon, a dispersing agent, an antioxidant, carbon nanotube fibers and aluminum oxide fibers. The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing and stirring alumina, brown aluminum oxide, nano rare earth oxide, activated aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, metal silicon, a dispersing agent, an antioxidant, carbon nanotube fibers and aluminum oxide fibers to obtain a mixture; and adding water into the mixture, stirring to obtain slurry, pouring the slurry into a mold, and carrying out pouring vibration molding, demolding, drying, heat preservation and cooling to obtain the composite material. The refractory castable disclosed by the invention is relatively good in mechanical property and slag corrosion resistance.
