The invention discloses a baking-free and steaming-free tailing brick and a preparation method thereof, the baking-free and steaming-free tailing brick is prepared from solid raw materials and an alkali activator, the solid raw materials comprise, by mass, 70-90% of iron tailing sand, 4% of silica fume and 6-26% of bauxite; the alkali activator is formed by mixing sodium silicate accounting for 23%-25% of the solid raw materials, sodium hydroxide accounting for 4%-6% of the solid raw materials and water accounting for 20%-22% of the solid raw materials. The iron tailings, the silica fume and the bauxite are used as raw materials, the mechanical property of the tailing brick is optimized through a method for adjusting the active silica-alumina ratio, the effect is remarkable, and the maximum unconfined compressive strength of the obtained tailing brick can reach 31.32 MPa. According to the preparation method, high-temperature sintering and autoclaving treatment are not needed, and energy consumption is low; in addition, due to the fact that the iron tailings, the silica fume and the bauxite are used as the raw materials, the harm of the solid waste to the environment can be effectively avoided, technical support is provided for regional environment co-treatment of bulk solid waste such as the tailings, and recycling and harmless treatment of the solid waste are achieved.
