The invention provides nano agglomerated rare earth doped YSZ powder and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of ceramic powder preparation. The preparation method comprises the following steps: carrying out surface modification treatment on a metal ion solution by using a dispersing agent to obtain a reaction solution; wherein the metal ion solution comprises zirconium salt, yttrium salt and at least one rare earth salt except the yttrium salt; performing aging treatment, ultrasonic treatment and drying treatment on the reaction solution to obtain rare earth doped YSZ precursor powder; calcining the rare earth doped YSZ precursor powder for at least two times to obtain rare earth doped YSZ nano powder; preparing the rare earth doped YSZ nano powder and deionized water into slurry, and carrying out ball milling on the slurry to obtain a rare earth doped YSZ aggregate; sintering the rare earth doped YSZ aggregate for at least two times to obtain intermediate powder; and sieving the intermediate powder to obtain the nano agglomerated rare earth doped YSZ powder. The performance of the YSZ material can be improved.
