The invention discloses a protective layer thickness control device of a reinforced concrete vertical component and a construction method thereof, the protective layer thickness control device comprises two inner arc strips used for sleeving the outer part of a vertical main rib of the vertical component, and the inner arc surfaces of the two inner arc strips are oppositely arranged; the length of the pull rod assembly is adjustable, and the pull rod assembly is connected between the end parts of the two inner arc strips; the outer arc strip is used for supporting the inner side of a formwork of the vertical component and arranged on the outer side of the outer arc face of the inner arc strip, the outer arc strip and the inner arc strip are concentrically arranged, and the distance from the inner arc face of the inner arc strip to the outer arc face of the outer arc strip is matched with the thickness of a concrete protection layer of the vertical component. A supporting plate is connected between the outer arc strip and the inner arc strip. The method solves the problem that the thickness of the concrete protection layer cannot be well determined due to the fact that the cushion block is easy to displace in an existing method for ensuring the thickness of the concrete protection layer through the cushion block.
