The invention discloses a self-resetting inerter friction damper for vibration reduction of an inhaul cable. The self-resetting inerter friction damper comprises a supporting mechanism and a friction resistance increasing mechanism. The supporting mechanism is directly and vertically connected with the inhaul cable, and the friction resistance increasing mechanism is arranged in the supporting mechanism, so that the situation that the stability of the friction damper is reduced possibly due to the fact that the friction resistance increasing mechanism makes contact with the inhaul cable is avoided; the resistance increasing mode that a traditional friction damper and a vibration reduction object move oppositely is converted into the rotating friction resistance increasing mode perpendicular to the amplitude direction of the two inhaul cables, the rotating friction torque is amplified, and the overall size of the friction damper is remarkably reduced when the vibration reduction effect is achieved; therefore, the overall size of the friction damper is effectively reduced, the difficulty that the friction damper is installed between the inhaul cables is reduced, and the practicability and the application scene of the friction damper are further improved.
