The invention concerns a motor vehicle lock comprising a plate (7) and a casing (1) enclosing the entire mechanism of the lock comprising a rotary bolt (2) intended for engaging with a striker (3) mounted protruding on a fixed frame and a rotary pawl (4) intended to hold the striker (3) in the closed position, said striker (3) sliding on a lateral surface of the bolt (2) along a so-called closing path and pushing the bolt (2), when the lock is closed. According to the invention, said lateral surface is tilted relative to the front surface (2A) of the bolt opposite the front surface (2C) turned towards said plate (7), over at least a first part of said closing path, said striker coming into contact with the edge of said front surface when the lock is closed.
