Improved syphon
The syphon comprises an overflow tube comprising an inlet tube 22 for connection with a pumping chamber, an outlet tube 26 for expelling water, and a flow equalising cap 300 fluidly connecting the inlet and outlet. An apex may bridge the inlet and the outlet, and a bed of the cap may cover them. The bed may comprise a protruding raised obround 310 which forms flow channels f1, f2, f3 for flow equalisation. The bed may have a first humped portion 322 on the inlet side which bifurcates water around the obround, and a smaller arrow head shaped second humped portion 326 on the outlet side. The humped portions may have cusps 324, 328 which meet the rim of the obround. The humped portions may be symmetrical about the longitudinal axis of the obround. The cap may reduce air bubbles in the syphon to improve efficiency. Also claimed is a cap for an overflow tube and an overflow tube comprising the cap.
