A fixation device (100, Fig 1a) comprises an elongate inner member (102, Fig 1b) rotatable about a longitudinal axis (120, Fig 1b) and having at least one first cutting element (114, Fig 1b) at an open distal end region thereof; a guide body (118, Fig 1b) located on the inner member having a tapered guide surface which tapers outwardly towards the distal end region; an elongate and hollow outer sleeve (104, Fig 1b) mounted on the inner member and rotatable about the longitudinal axis and translatable with respect to the inner sleeve; and a flareable end formation located at an open distal end region of the outer sleeve and comprising at least one second cutting element. The flareable end formation is configured to flare outwardly towards a deployed position when moved over the tapered guide surface of the guide body. The flareable end formation further comprises a plurality of finger elements 350 each rotatable with respect to the outer sleeve about a hinge axis defined by a pin-less coupling arrangement 354 and 356. An installation method is also disclosed.
