A control system for apparatus for the manufacture of palisade fencing pales
The control system has means for continuously feeding strip metal and a moveably mounted press configured to both move in parallel with the strip metal when pressing and to move back to a previous position when not pressing. The press is capable of step (i) cutting one end of a first pale and the other end of an adjacent second pale, and step (ii) forming apertures in a pale to serve as a securing means to fencing rail. The control system includes a first sensor to determine the length of strip metal fed into the apparatus. A second sensor determines the displacement of the press. A processor determines the relative displacement of the press in relation to the strip metal and any given fencing pale to be produced. A controller for the press, in one mode of operation, instructs the press to perform step (i), optionally concurrently with step (ii). In a second mode of operation performs step (ii) without performing step (i), to form an aperture in a portion away from an end of the pale without cutting the centre of the pale, for securing the pale to a fencing rail(s) positioned away from the end.
