Palisade fencing pales
A method and apparatus for manufacturing palisade fencing pales 4 from strip metal 3 includes the steps of: (i) feeding the strip metal through a series of roller-pairs (S1, S2, S3) for cold rolling to form a desired profile of pale in the strip metal; and (ii) cutting the profiled strip metal into individual fencing pales. The series of roller-pairs includes at least one first stage roller-pair S1 having axes parallel to the plane of the strip metal being rolled. At least one second stage roller-pair S2 has axes perpendicular to the plane of the strip metal being rolled. The first stage roller-pair(s) bends an edge of the strip metal up to 90 degrees from the plane of the strip metal. The second stage roller-pair(s) further bend that edge of the strip metal over on itself, beyond 90 degrees from the plane of the strip metal (Figure 4). There may be at least one third stage roller-pair (S3) having axes parallel to the plane of the strip metal being rolled, for compressing the bent-over edge of the strip metal. The roller-pair(s) may also form aspects of the desired profile unrelated to the edge of the metal (Figure 5).
