PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling gear shifting for a ground construction machine, which can set upper limit and lower limit values of a driving torque of a tool to perform automatic gear shifting between the two values stably and smoothly.SOLUTION: A method for controlling gear shifting for a ground construction machine, which has a tool 11, a hydraulic motor 81 capable of continuously changing a displacement volume, and a pressure detector 86 for detecting a pressure of fluid supplied to the hydraulic motor, comprises a step for setting an upper limit value and a lower limit value of a driving torque to be used, a step for setting a plurality of driving torque values within a range between the lower limit value and the upper limit value, a step for obtaining displacement volume values corresponding to a plurality of the set driving torque values, a step for setting a lower reference value or an upper reference value of the pressure, respectively, corresponding to a shift from the current displacement volume to a volume smaller by one level or to a volume larger by one level, a step for setting reference time for a shift from the current displacement volume to the adjacent volume on the smaller side and to the adjacent volume on the larger side, respectively, and a step for shifting to the volume smaller by one level or to the volume larger by one level by taking into account of the relationships between the pressure and the lower/upper reference values and duration thereof.
