To provide a manufacturing method capable of sufficiently increasing sulfur adsorption volume in for example a copper-zinc-aluminum-nickel-based desulfurization agent.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a desulfurization agent has a first mixing process for mixing a first powder containing a copper compound and a zinc compound, and a second powder containing a nickel compound to obtain a first mixed powder, a pulverization process for pulverizing the first mixed powder to have average particle diameter of 5 μm or less, a second mixing process for mixing the first mixed powder after the pulverization process and a third powder containing the aluminum compound to obtain the second mixed powder, a molding process for mixing the second mixed powder and extrusion molding the same to obtain a molded article, a burning process for burning the molded article to obtain a desulfurization agent precursor, and a reduction process for hydrogen reducing the desulfurization agent precursor to obtain the desulfurization agent.SELECTED DRAWING: None
