To provide a welding method of square steel pipes for connecting existing two square steel pipes with their ends facing with each other with a space in between by welding a square steel pipe joint, which does not need a support to the square steel pipe joint, makes the weld length shorter and does not need applying backing metals to outside surface of the ends of square steel pipes.SOLUTION: Ends of existing square steel pipes 1 are diagonally cut so that cut edges project continually forward from the top to the bottom. Both ends of a square steel pipe joint 2 are diagonally cut so that cut edges project continually forward from the bottom to the top. Backing metals 3 for existing square steel pipes are attached at upper inner surface of the ends of existing square steel pipes. Backing metals 4 for the square steel pipe joint are attached at a lower inner surface of both ends of the square steel pipe joint. The square steel pipe joint 2 is fitted between the existing square steel pipes 1, and then the ends of the square steel pipe joint and the existing square steel pipes are connected by welding.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】間隔をあけて対向する既設角形鋼管に連結角形鋼管を溶接して、既設角形鋼管同士を連結する際に、連結角形鋼管の支持が不要であり、溶接長さが短く、しかも、裏当て金を角形鋼管の端部外面に取り付ける必要がない、角形鋼管の溶接方法を提供する。【解決手段】既設角形鋼管1の既設角形鋼管端部を、前記既設角形鋼管端部が前記既設角形鋼管端部の上部から下部に亘って連続して前方に突出するように斜めに切り欠き、連結角形鋼管2の連結角形鋼管端部を、前記連結角形鋼管端部が前記連結角形鋼管端部の下部から上部に亘って連続して前方に突出するように斜めに切り欠き、前記既設角形鋼管端部の上部内面に既設角形鋼管用裏当て金3を取り付け、前記連結角形鋼管端部の下部内面に連結角形鋼管用裏当て金4を取り付け、連結角形鋼管1を既設角形鋼管1間に嵌め込み、そして、前記既設角形鋼管端部と前記連結角形鋼管端部とを溶接して接合する。【選択図】図1
