To provide a substantially circular formwork unit that can be installed quickly and has high rigidity, and a method for constructing such a formwork.SOLUTION: In a formwork unit FU of a substantially cylindrical or substantially cylindrical reinforced concrete structure, the formwork unit FU includes a liner plate 71 which is a weir plate configured in a substantially cylindrical piece shape, an arc-shaped upper reinforcing ring 72 attached to the upper edge of the liner plate 71, in which the upper reinforcing ring 72 has a convex portion protruding upward, and an arc-shaped lower reinforcing ring 74 attached to the lower edge of the liner plate 71, in which the lower reinforcing ring 74 has a concave portion that fits into the convex portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
