To provide a method of producing a sulfur-containing composition, capable of producing a sulfur-containing composition at a low cost with high production efficiency.SOLUTION: A method of producing a sulfur-containing composition for obtaining a sulfur-containing composition including calcium sulfide, from a carbon source and gypsum-containing waste, with the carbon source containing an inorganic component including Si and Al, comprises a heating step of heating the carbon source and the gypsum-containing waste at a temperature in a range of 600 to 1400°C to allow them to react with each other to obtain a heat-treated material, and a modification step of modifying the heat-treated material to obtain the sulfur-containing composition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
