To provide a rotation work machine detecting an orientation of a rotation base with a single position detection device.SOLUTION: A rotational work machine is provided with: a rotational base rotatable around a rotational axis center extending in a vertical direction; a work device arranged on the rotational base; a position detection device arranged on the rotational base and detecting a position; and a calculation section calculating an orientation of the rotational base based on a detected position detected with the position detection device, wherein the calculation section calculates an axis center position of the rotational axis center based on a plurality of detected positions at the time when the rotational base rotates around the rotational axis center and calculates an orientation of the rotational base based on the axis center position and the detected position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
