To provide housing material having a grain pattern exhibiting further natural impression and a production method thereof.SOLUTION: Surface layer material 14 of housing material 10 is provided with a grain pattern surface with a plurality of convex strips 20 formed so as to extend in an X direction. The convex strips 20 include a steep slope convex strip 20a which has a slope angle of both side surfaces of a threshold angle or greater based on a Y direction and a gentle slope convex strip 20b which has a slope angle of both side surfaces of less than the threshold angle. The steep slope convex strips 20a consecutively arranged in the Y direction form a group of steep slope convex strips 24a, and the gentle slope convex strips 20b consecutively arranged in the Y direction form a group of gentle slope convex strips 24a. The group of steep slope convex strips 24a and the group of gentle slope convex strips 24b each have 5 to 10 convex strips 20 consecutively arranged. 【課題】一層自然な印象の木目柄を有する建材、およびその製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】建材１０の表層材１４は、多数の凸条２０がＸ方向に延在するように形成された木目柄面を備える。凸条２０は、両側面の傾斜角度が、Ｙ方向を基準として閾値角度以上である急傾斜凸条２０ａと、閾値角度より小さい緩傾斜凸条２０ｂとを含み、急傾斜凸条２０ａはＹ方向に沿って複数本が連続して設けられる急傾斜凸条群２４ａを形成し、緩傾斜凸条２０ｂはＹ方向に沿って複数本が連続して設けられる緩傾斜凸条群２４ｂを形成している。急傾斜凸条群２４ａおよび緩傾斜凸条群２４ｂは、それぞれ凸条２０の数が５～１０本の範囲で連続して設けられ、群によって凸条２０の本数に変化がある。【選択図】図３
