To provide a highly functional amorphous refractory for molten aluminum which does not require the addition of a penetration inhibitor in the production of a refractory product, or can exhibit an excellent penetration inhibiting function even if the amount of the penetration inhibitor is reduced.SOLUTION: In an amorphous refractory for molten aluminum comprising a refractory main raw material and a refractory binder, the refractory main raw material is composed of dense ceramic granules having an apparent porosity of 7% or less and has a chemical composition consisting of 65 mass% or more of Al2O3, 0.06-35 mass% of MgO, and 5 mass% or less of other components as a whole. The refractory main raw material contains round particles having a rounded shape without corners and having a similar chemical composition and a circularity of 0.70 or more in an amount of 10-80 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】耐火製品の製造に際して、浸透抑制剤の添加を必須とするものではない、若しくはその使用量を低減させても、優れた浸透抑制機能を発揮せしめることが出来る、高機能なアルミニウム溶湯用不定形耐火物を提供する。【解決手段】耐火物主原料と耐火性結合剤とを少なくとも含むアルミニウム溶湯用不定形耐火物において、耐火物主原料を、７％以下の見掛け気孔率を有する緻密なセラミック粉粒体にて構成すると共に、Ａｌ2Ｏ3の６５質量％以上とＭｇＯの０．０６～３５質量％とその他の成分の５質量％以下とからなる化学組成を全体として有するように構成し、且つ耐火物主原料が、角の無い丸みを帯びたラウンド形状を呈する、同様な化学組成を有し、円形度が０．７０以上のラウンド粒子を、１０～８０質量％の割合において含有するように構成した。【選択図】図１
