In this stocker (10), a storage box (20) is equipped with a light (26) that turns on when a door (31) opens. A user putting an item into the storage box (20) or retrieving an item within the storage box (20) can thereby easily check conditions inside the box even when the peripheral environment of the stocker (10) is dark, thus enabling easy storage and retrieval of items. Since the light (26) illuminates the inside of the box, but does not shine light towards the storage box (20) from the outside, it is possible to limit the effects of light pollution from the stocker (10) on the peripheral environment.
