UHPFRC Development: The Experience of BSI® Applications
The Eiffage Group has conducted a groundbreaking development approach on the basis of BSI® and has carried out a large number of projects involving both structural and architectural applications of the material. This chapter presents the main stages in the development of BSI®, be it for structural purposes, from the Bourg‐lès‐Valence bridges and the Millau Viaduct toll‐plaza canopy to the concept of ITE° beams, for street furniture or architectural elements in construction, or in the fast‐growing sector of structural repair. These many examples of applications testify to the many qualities of ultra high performance fiber‐reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) that can be harnessed for both structural and purely architectural purposes, not to mention the sector of structural rehabilitation, which is currently the most promising utilization.
