Development Adjacent to Wetlands Denied
The Madrid Corporation owned four acres of land that sloped down to wetlands. Madrid applied to the Inland Wetlands Agency (IWA) of the Town of Mansfield to deposit fill material on the tract. Madrid sought to subdivide the tract into two lots and build a three‐bedroom house on each. Each house would have a driveway, well, and septic system. State law allowed IWA to regulate certain activities relating to inland wetlands and areas up to 150 feet from wetlands. IWA denied Madrid's application.
