Benefit Evaluation of Concrete Pavement with Welded Steel Fabric
Cement concrete pavement in China has been researched both domestically and internationally. Engineering costs, life cycle cost benefits, and social economic benefits of asphalt pavement, common plain concrete pavement, concrete pavement with welded steel fabric, and continuously reinforced concrete pavement are compared and analyzed. Cement concrete pavement reinforced welded steel fabric is low cost, has few maintenance costs, and has long life cycle characteristics. An analysis of the environmental impacts, particularly energy consumption during construction and environmental protection, of asphalt and cement concretes was conducted. Cement concrete pavement is environmentally safe with respect to carbon, and is a sustainable pavement. A case study analyzing various expressways and tunnels of various lengths in the Shanxi Province can be used as the basis of development of reinforced cement pavement in China.
