Techniques for Rebuilding an Existing Large Cross-Section Air Defense Tunnel into a Subway Tunnel
Harbin metro line 1 is rebuilt from a civil air defense tunnel. The FEM analysis of the effect of chiseling the side lining and invert on remaining lining in the large cross-section tunnel shows that the arch's moment and axial force increases while that of the invert slightly decreases, and the structure is destroyed. It can ensure the remaining lining is safe to apply permanent concrete wall support and temporary steel support as supplementary method. Interval excavation method can make full use of spatial support effect of the remaining sections to reduce ground settlement. The numerical result roughly follows the same regularity as field measures.
