Modelling of Submerged Rubble-Mound Structures
This paper describes the erosion tests in front of submerged and emerged permeable breakwaters carried at the CIEM flume in Barcelona within the EU Scarcost Project. The maximum erosion for various wave trains is presented, and compared with some existent formulations. The influence of several parameters (wave height and period, breakwater freeboard) is also considered. The paper finally presents some numerical simulations of the wave induced current fields, which are potentially important for describing the barrier effect of the structure and where the influence of reflected wave trains is observed.
