A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Patirtinė architektūra: Pojūčių muziejus Vilniuje ; Experiential Architecture: The Museum of Senses in Vilnius
The final master’s thesis analyzes the topic of experiential architecture. It is noticeable that modern architectural objects ant the surrounding spaces are increasingly designed to arouse emotions and impress the public. However, the measures used to achieve this goal are often not sufficiently effective due to the sensory imbalances that have developed in society over time, caused by constantly accelerating pace of life, technological progress, the emergence of the media and strong economic growth. This work investigates the influence of the application of modern means of artistic expression in architectural objects on human sensory senses, perception of space, environment and objects. It also seeks to reveal the multifaceted importance of the sensory process to the ways and conditions of the ability to imagine. The aim of the work is to define the concept and meaning of experiential architecture and, based on the conclusions of the theoretical and empirical research, to prepare a project of a high-quality architectural public object. There are not many known objects of experiential architecture in Lithuania. The concept and concept of experiential architecture is also new. Thus, taking into account the need for these objects and public spaces and in order to encourage the emergence of objects influencing the perception of human space and environment – in the final master’s thesis it is proposed to design a public object: The Museum of Senses in Vilnius. This newly emerged object could address the lack of impact of the means of artistic expression used in architecture and lead to the inclusion of the need for sensory perception, cognition, evaluation and education aspects of spaces in the process of creating new social objects. The textual part of the final master’ thesis consists of an introduction, analytical methodological, analytical research and design parts, summary of the work, conclusions and suggestions, list of literature and pictures, appendices.
