One of the buildings of Olde Rochesterville, a complex of renovated 19th century buildings, looking northwest from Water Street. This particular structure is most often called the Ellis Building. It was named after its architect, Harvey Ellis, who designed the building in the late nineteenth century. Like its neighbors, this building was originally industrial and commercial. However, between 1984 and 1986 the buildings along North Water Street were renovated in a 15 million dollar project. This project was developed by Wilmorite, Inc. and was known as Olde Rochesterville. The buildings were converted to residential and retail use.
