The need for building conversion is already visible in 19 th century literature, and it remains an important construction means to this day. Implementation of conversion is important to keep central city districts alive. In the first part of the master‘s thesis, the main principles based on which conversion projects are evaluated and prepared are examined, an overview of projects implemented in Lithuania and abroad is performed. In the second part, the task of evaluation of the conversion project is created. The analysis of the expert and public survey for the need for conversion and criteria importance for project evaluation is performed. A multi-criteria analysis of conversion projects performed in Lithuania and abroad is performed in the third past. The efficiency of projects is assessed by analyzing the cost of the project, the number of apartments created and other criteria, the importance is which is determined based on the survey. Structure: introduction, three main paragraphs conclusions and suggestions, references and appendixes. The thesis consists of 89 p. text without appendixes, 50 pictures, 25 tables, 77 bibliographical entries.
