Draft environmental impact statement: Shasta Costa timber sales and integrated resource projects: Siskiyou National Forest (appendices not included) ; Shasta Costa timber sales and integrated resource projects, Siskiyou National Forest
SD428.S57s 1990 ; A 13.92/2: Si 8/4 ; 342 ; Includes bibliographical references.; Includes index.; Includes ill. and maps (some colored). ; "This Draft Environmental Impact Statement describes six alternatives for managing the 23,419-acre Shasta Costa Planning Area between 1991 and 1993. The Planning Area is administered by the Gold Beach and Galice Ranger Districts, Siskiyou National Forest. Each alternative responds differently to the major issues and concerns identified. All alternatives are in compliance with the Siskiyou National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan). Alternative A is the No-Action alternative. Under this alternative, no activity will be initiated in the Planning Area. Alternative B will implement the projects proposed in Appendices B and C of the Forest Plan. Alternative C will maintain and enhance biological diversity while emphasizing ecosystem sustainability. Alternative F will propose several harvest projects, while emphasizing the maintenance or enhancement of visual quality, water quality and fisheries habitat. Alternative G will blend attributes of both Alternatives B and C along with a harvest level that is slightly below the harvest levels that are identified in Appendix C of the Forest Plan. Alternative H is designed to accelerate development of the Planning Area for both short- and long-term timber production" P. [2].
