Since that time, the Bandon City Council, Planning Commission, and the Bandon Steering Committee have actively contributed to the development of this Plan. The City contracted with the Coos-Curry Council of Governments for professional, technical and secretarial assistance in preparing the Plan. Preparation of the Bandon 1990 Comprehensive Plan was based on several preliminary surveys and analyses. These studies and their related findings provide information on physical characteristics, socio-economic characteristics and inventories of existing land use, public facilities and coastal resources. The Plan itself identifies problems and planning issues and presents the City's goals and objectives. The Plan is long range and comprehensive, and becomes the governing document for land use decisions for the City. It is intended to serve as a flexible guide which will influence the direction the City will take in terms of future growth and development. The Plan will be subjected to future review and update to reflect changing community attitudes and to allow for any necessary changes." P. viii [9]
