Construction of underground suburban railway station at Paris-Austerlitz
Station built in deep open cut consists of reinforced concrete structure built in cofferdam formed by walls cast in situ and not included in final structure; station has two 285 m long 9 m wide central platforms, each serving two unidirectional tracks; particularities of this construction, built under all restrictions implied by its location inside operating large railway station, lie in lack of available space and presence of water table whose level is linked with that of Seine river; methods adopted for solving these problems are described.
