Prestressing Construction with Prestrained Joints for Long Span Roofs
A prestressing method for long span roof structures of truss type is developed in the report. The prestress is introduced by connecting the prestrained gap-joints of some selected members. The prestrain of the joints is given by two ways of erection procedure: jack loading to the member's joint directly (MPS: Member Prestrain) and jacking up the roof at the center (FPS: Frame Prestrain). The concept, analytical design method, and erection procedures were validated by the large scale model tests on a portal truss frame of 25 meter span.
