Tumut ponds project of snowy scheme
Snowy Mountains scheme is scheduled for completion before end of 1954; under construction are: 21-ft diam concrete lined Eucumbene-Tumut tunnel, 13.8 mi long; Tumut pond arched dam, 290 ft high; spillway controlled by two 47×30 ft radial gates; underground power station, 250 ft long, 59 ft wide, and 110 ft high, will have ultimate capacity of 320,000 kw.
