A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Method is presented for calculation of stresses and deflections in multistory structures which, in addition to conventional rigid frames or wind bents, have shear stiffening in form of walls or shafts; extended slope deflection equation is derived which takes into account effects of deformations due to both shear and flexure, and serves as basis of generalized procedure; method is presented for calculation of stresses due to wind or other lateral loads; theory may also be applied to various structural analysis problems of buildings having relatively long, narrow floors.
