Improving heating of metal in continuous furnaces
Heat flow studies and measurements of temperature distribution in steel ingots and in furnace were used to increase efficiency of 2-zone counterflow furnaces by structural design changes, addition of burners, and transfer of waste gas exhaust from top to bottom. (See also Stal n 4 Apr 1963 p 372-3)
