A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Investigation of hydraulic capacity of large corrugated-metal and concrete pipe culverts, and development of new design charts for corrugated-metal culverts; work carried out from 1960 to 1962 in Alberta involved series of tests made on field installation, using 5ft diam corrugated-metal culvert about 70 ft long, and laboratory tests made on 15-in. diam corrugated-metal culverts, to check certain of conclusions drawn from results of initial field tests; method was developed for preparing design charts relating culvert discharge to upstream head and to pipe length, slope and roughness.
