Launching steel girder bridge over White Nile in Uganda
Bridge built recently over White Nile between Owen Falls Dam and Murchison Falls in Uganda, Africa, consists of pair of parallel flanged plate girders spanning gap with concrete deck slab on top; method whereby first line for light construction ropeway was passed across river is described; girders were launched over rollers, successive sections being added to tail until full length was assembled; kentledge was loaded on to tail-end for final stages of launching.
