In construction of Avon Dam, Great Britain, concrete, made with mixture of ordinary Portland cement and blast furnace slag, finely ground by wet grinding process patented by Monsieur Trief, is being adopted; process consists in wet grinding slag in ball mill to much greater fineness, and in maintaining resulting slurry in liquid form by agitation until it is delivered into batch mixer, at same stage as Portland cement.
