Guy-Derrick traveler erects high spans. construction methods and equipment
Novel bridge erection method used to span pair of steep mountain gorges in northern California; Bethlehem Pacific Steel Corp ran special derrick over narrow temporary steel girder cantilevers, hoisted 107-ft girders from canyon floor, and then converted them to simply supported spans; two bridges span Pipe Creek and Putah Creek in Napa County; they consist mostly of 164-ft twin plate girders spaced 18 ft apart.
