Brief illustrated description of scheme which comprises dam with locks, and various auxiliary plants and one of world's largest hydroelectric power stations, having designed output of 560,000 kw; concrete dam is of gravity type and curved to radius of 600 m; length is 760 m, max height 62 m, power house contains 9 main turbines and one auxiliary turbine, supplied by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co.
