Single-port suction manifolds
Experimental data are presented for flow through single circular port into full-flowing circular conduit surrounded by infinite body of fluid at rest; one possible application of "suction" manifolds is in predilution of effluents in marine sewer outfalls; flow rates and head loss characteristics associated with lateral inflows were determined for port-to-conduit diameter ratios ranging from 1/8 to 1/1; density differences typical of those between ambient seawater and sewage effluent in marine outfall were found to have little effect on operating characteristics of manifold.
