Footbridge in lightweight concrete
Footbridge spanning harbor entrance at Wiesbaden-Schierstein, West Germany is 505 ft long and features light weight concrete structure built by cantilevering; arch bridge has cantilevering approach ramps which form structural counterbalances to 307 ft main arch; each counterbalance consists of extension of main arch to form dog leg approach ramp which begins at springing of arch; ramps were constructed in normal concrete but light weight concrete was used for central section of arch.
